PowerEdge R640

The PowerEdge R640 is part of the 14th generation of Poweredge servers released in 2017. The R640 has many of the features available on the R740 but in a 1U form factor which is great for solutions that require higher density. The R640 is the replacement for the R630. The R640 features up to two Intel Xeon Scalable Processors with up to 28 cores and 24 DDR4 DIMM slots with options for multiple terabytes of memory . Backplane options are 4, 8 or 10 2.5" SFF SAS/SATA or PCIe NVME drives as well as split backplane options for both types of drives. There is also an 4x LFF/3.5" backplake & an optional rear 2.5"/SFF backplane option available for some configurations. The onboard network card is modular allowing options for 1Gb, 10Gb & 24Gb Ethernet from Intel, Broadom & Qlogic.
